J Hype always wanted to be a singer. He was inspired by contemporary rappers and began participating in various local competitions and open mic events, many of which he won.[1] He auditioned for Boy Band by beat-boxing, and was eliminated in episode 7.

He released three singles: “Nice To Meet You”, “Undefeated” and “Just Like That”. “Nice To Meet You”, Jay explained on an Instagram post, is a “two minute and fifty seconds of rap stating who I am”. “Just Like That” was a homage to one year of Boy Band.
