"Can't Hold Us" is a song written and performed by American hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and singer Ryan Lewis that was released on August 16, 2011 from the duo's debut studio album The Heist. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Michael Conor covered the song for his final performance on the show Boy Band, though it was not his primary choice, Bruno Mar's "Billionaire" being the alternative song. It was changed three times, and because of technical difficulties with sound, it was finalized with the latter, leaving him unprepared. On the day of his performance he still had to memorize his verse, due to having different raps he had written with each change. He felt that it was not his best performance.[1] Acknowledging the song changes, Tim Davis observed the other challenges Michael has risen to and overcame. Starting off with only being a rapper on the show, Michael learned singing and dancing in the month.[2]
Lyrics
It's time to face it
Came a long way but I'm not complacent
Giving everything I got
Everybody say stop
Then you start to run out of patience
Gotta make sure no time is wasted
I don't have to be mad 'cause this life's amazing
Now I get to rap in front of legends man
How's that for the confirmation?
People gotta understand this is more to me than just fame though
I hear chit-chat, talking this and that
But it ain't none of that unless I say so
Never slowing it down, that line is all I can see
You overlooked the kid
But now there’s all eyes on me
Say
Can we go back? This is the moment
Tonight is the night, we'll fight 'til it's over
So we put our hands up
Like the ceiling can't hold us
Like the ceiling can't hold us
Can we go back? This is the moment
Tonight is the night, we'll fight 'til it's over
So we put our hands up
Like the ceiling can't hold us
Like the ceiling can't hold us
